Fever-Tree’s mixers have found worldwide success, but the brand started from humble beginnings.
It was set up by Tim Warrillow and Charles Rolls in 2004, as they both realised there was a gap in the mixer market.
At the time, there was only one soft drink market leader which dominated globally. But in April 2017, Fever-Tree overtook Britvic as the most valuable soft drinks company in the UK, worth a staggering £1.8billion.
Their ethos is: “If three quarters of your gin and tonic is the tonic, make sure you use the best,’ and Charles and Tim started their epic journey in the British Library, researching the history and ingredients of tonic.
They then travelled the world in search of the best ingredients, exploring the Democratic Republic of Congo to find quinine and the Ivory Coast, hunting for fresh green ginger.
While Charles came from a gin background (he was the man behind the rebirth of Plymouth Gin), Tim’s background was luxury food and drink marketing.
Regardless of prior expertise, the business was a typical start up. The range now features a huge variety of flavours in the tonic category, as well as a selection of sodas.
